18″ Doll Outfit

On Good Friday, we made an outfit for our 18″ dolls.   The outfit consisted of pants, a matching

vest and coordinating shirt.  The girls always enjoy making clothes for their dolls.

The girls sewing doll clothes that day were Heidi Walder, Olive Clayton and Wilemena Clayton.

The girls had a fun time.

Humbug Bags

On Presidents Day  holiday from school,  we made Humbug Bags.   We created the fabric by

sewing strips of colorful  fabrics together and then sewing some decorative stitches along each

strip to decorate the bag.  And then we put in a zipper.  They were quite fun to make.  On the far right is Annika Stadli and Laura Eisenmann .  In the middle picture is Olive and Wilamena Clayton.  In the picture on the immediate right is Taylor Bright, Ella Combes, Christa Holohan, and Eva Brown.

Travel Pillows

On the Martin Luther King  Birthday holiday from school,   we made a travel pillow.  It was a

16″ pillow with a pocket on one side that was big enough to hold a book or I pad and a handle

for easy carrying.   Heidi Walder,  Wilamena Clayton, Katrina Walder, Laura Eisenmann, and

Olive Clayton came to make the pillow that day.

Classes for Kids

During Christmas break , we scheduled a kids class for making a flannel quilt using 8 inch

squares of 2 coordinating flannels.   In one of our classes, Grandma Maria brought 5 of her

grandchildren to class and each made a quilt.    They are pictured on the far right.  In the middle picture is Selah and Maggie Nardoni  and their grandpa.   The picture on the immediate right is Wilamena and Olive Clayton.

Notes from Vera

Happy spring to everyone.  The calendar says it is spring but I am not giving up my warm coat just yet.  I must admit I am ready to pack away all the snowman stuff and tell myself to shift gears as spring is officially here.  Most of my family will be home for Easter and that is very motivational to get going.  A friend once said every woman should have company at least every three or four weeks. (I know that works for me)

The Sewing Boutique will be gearing up for spring also.  Check out the new classes in this newsletter.  I am again doing the Kaleidoscope Quilt using the Bloc Loc rulers as it goes fast and provides an opportunity to use your scraps and some of your stash.  I hope to have my finished quilt hanging soon.  I am working on some additional ways to use the printed  motivational squares from the Outside the Lines quilt hanging up now.

Joyce has a new quilt called Winter Night that features both applique and piecing.  Barb will be doing the Lasagna Quilt that uses precut 2 1/2″ strips.  Check out the class page for dates and times.

Joyce has arranged for our favorite software educator, Janie Lantz to share her expertise with all of you on May 7th and  8th.  Janie has her own fan club here as she has been a frequent software educator at our store.

18″ Doll Clothes Class

It has been a bit since we have met to make an 18″doll outfit.  I think we will try again to make the cute little

ruffled top and capri pants.  For the second class I would like to do an authentic  American Girl Doll dress.

If you are a doll lover or have a little one in your family who is,  come join us and sew  up a couple of outfits

for that special doll.  Class fee:  15.00   Monday, April 23 and June 4   at 1:00    Joyce

Keep America Sewing for May

We have this fabric that has 8 different 12″ floral prints  that is just reaching out to be made into something.

So I chose to make some placemats and a table runner for our next Keep America Sewing Project.   Using the 3

other coordinating prints, I bordered the central print, added floral borders one each side and the third print

for backing and binding.  The times we will be meeting for Keep America Sewing in May are Tuesday, May 1 at

5:00,  Thursday, May 3  at 9:00  or 1:00  and Friday, May 4  at 9:00  or 1:00     Joyce

Spicy Spiral Table Runner

Barb plans to teach her Spicy Spiral Table Runner again only this time she is using  a pretty

spring striped print.  This makes the project go together quicker as there are no strips to sew

together to create the stripes.  The stripes in the fabric  represent what the strips did in her

earlier class.  Class fee:  30.00    Monday, May 14    9  to 4    Barb

Outside the Lines Decor

In this class we will be using the blocks with motivational sayings to create pillows, valances, wall hangings,   and table toppers.  Items can be used with the Outside the Lines Quilt or simply to enhance any room décor.

Class fee:  30.00    Wednesday , May 30 and Friday, June 15        1:00       Vera
